With nearly a decade in this role\, she has developed a good understanding of neurodiverse needs and takes a hands-on\, compassionate approach to student care. \nJill trained as a nurse at Guy’s Hospital\, London\, in the early 1990s\, just before the launch of Project 2000. Her early career included working in endocrinology and renal medicine before she became adventurous! She then worked as a first aider and camp manager in children’s holiday camps in France\, joining the medical team for Raleigh International\, and became a project manager for World Challenge\, leading student expeditions worldwide. She has also been part of the medical team for the Everest Marathon in Nepal and led canoeing trips down the Ganges in India. \nAfter moving to Guernsey\, Jill took on a unique nursing role at the Guernsey Cheshire Home\, where she led adaptive exercise programs for residents with disabilities. From tandem cycling with blind residents to facilitating marathons for wheelchair users\, she had to find creative ways to make movement and adventure accessible to all. \nSince returning to the UK\, Jill has been in her role at Bredon School\, where she combines her medical skills with a deep passion for student well-being. Although she does not consider herself an academic\, she is a strong advocate for lifelong learning\, adaptability\, and the power of hands-on experience. \nA relevant personal connection to her current engagement is that Jill’s 18-year-old son is also a type 1 diabetic\, diagnosed at the age of 14. In support of the diabetes community\, she recently ran the London Marathon to raise funds for Diabetes UK.

After the birth of her first son she stumbled into community school nursing and never looked back. During her time as a community school nurse she covered primary and secondary schools all across Cambridgeshire. She completed training such as the CAMHS foundation module\, Sexual Health and Contraception module and was trained in Safeguarding Children Level 3. She completed her PG Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing in 2016 when she was pregnant with her second son\, which she later topped up to a full MSc in 2023 when she was pregnant with her daughter! This also included qualifying as a Nurse Prescriber. Skyler co-lead the development of a 0-19 Duty Desk and the introduction of the Chathealth text service in Cambridgeshire Community Services. In 2019 she became a Team Manager for the CCS Healthy Child Programme – managing a team of Nursery Nurses\, Health Visitors and School Nurses during the pandemic. In 2020 she was recruited to be the Lead Nurse at The Leys in Cambridge\, to lead a team covering 24 hour care for around 575 pupils (over half of which are boarders). This is where she is now and where her passion for independent school nursing started.

He also sits on the Roblox trust and safety board where he represents the Insafe network. He was part of an expert steering group with TikTok looking at harmful and dangerous online challenges and regularly contributes to content for Internet Matters\, recently delivering their online safety training for those working with children in care commissioned by Ofcom. \nKarl has worked for a number of key players in the UK and abroad including CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre)\, BECTA (British Educational and Communications Technology Agency)\, the European Commission\, the UN and several Local Authorities within the UK and in Europe. \nAs an ex primary headteacher\, he continues to work closely in schools across Europe with children\, young people\, parents\, teachers and governors to develop safer online behaviours and the promotion of digital literacy. Karl has been employed for the last 19 years as an in-house consultant for INSAFE which is the coordinating node of the EU Better Internet for Kids programme where he is responsible for the coordination of safer internet helplines and awareness centres across Europe. Karl was the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Marie Collins Foundation for 7 years\, a charity which supports young people who have been sexually abused and exploited online and is now Chair of the board of trustees of Childnet international and Chair of the executive committee of SACPA (Safeguarding and Child Protection Association). Karl has also worked with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and chaired the working group to re-write their Child Online Protection Guidance. \n

After the birth of her first son she stumbled into community school nursing and never looked back. During her time as a community school nurse she covered primary and secondary schools all across Cambridgeshire. She completed training such as the CAMHS foundation module\, Sexual Health and Contraception module and was trained in Safeguarding Children Level 3. She completed her PG Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing in 2016 when she was pregnant with her second son\, which she later topped up to a full MSc in 2023 when she was pregnant with her daughter! This also included qualifying as a Nurse Prescriber. Skyler co-lead the development of a 0-19 Duty Desk and the introduction of the Chathealth text service in Cambridgeshire Community Services. In 2019 she became a Team Manager for the CCS Healthy Child Programme – managing a team of Nursery Nurses\, Health Visitors and School Nurses during the pandemic. In 2020 she was recruited to be the Lead Nurse at The Leys in Cambridge\, to lead a team covering 24 hour care for around 575 pupils (over half of which are boarders). This is where she is now and where her passion for independent school nursing started.

After the birth of her first son she stumbled into community school nursing and never looked back. During her time as a community school nurse she covered primary and secondary schools all across Cambridgeshire. She completed training such as the CAMHS foundation module\, Sexual Health and Contraception module and was trained in Safeguarding Children Level 3. She completed her PG Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing in 2016 when she was pregnant with her second son\, which she later topped up to a full MSc in 2023 when she was pregnant with her daughter! This also included qualifying as a Nurse Prescriber. Skyler co-lead the development of a 0-19 Duty Desk and the introduction of the Chathealth text service in Cambridgeshire Community Services. In 2019 she became a Team Manager for the CCS Healthy Child Programme – managing a team of Nursery Nurses\, Health Visitors and School Nurses during the pandemic. In 2020 she was recruited to be the Lead Nurse at The Leys in Cambridge\, to lead a team covering 24 hour care for around 575 pupils (over half of which are boarders). This is where she is now and where her passion for independent school nursing started.

Heads\, deputy Heads\, Designated Safeguarding Leads\, Tutors\, Matrons\, Nurses.\n📍 Online\n🎥 Watch live \nCourse outline: \nThis course is aimed at any school staff who work closely with young people struggling with their mental health and who wish to increase their knowledge and gain practical tips on how best to support them. \n  \nTraining topics will include: \n\nPhysiology of anxiety – endorphins\, fight/fright\, window of tolerance\,\nAssessment – value of gathering information and how\nImpact of  Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) and Early Help pathways\nSafe place\, time out\, named support staff – considerations for schools\nCommunication styles and resources to aid effective communication\nCoping strategies – healthy and unhealthy – distraction techniques\, breathing\, mindfulness\, self sooth box\nWhen to be concerned and who to refer to – GP\, CAMHS\, counselling services.\n\nLearning outcomes: \n\nTo be updated on the physiological effect of anxiety on the body and be able to explain this simply to a young person to help them make sense of their symptoms\nTo gain skills and knowledge on how to conduct an initial assessment and history taking from a young person relating to their mental health\nTo expand knowledge on adjustments and support strategies that can be integrated in schools for young people with anxiety\nGain increased knowledge on referral pathways and multi-agency working.\n\nBOOK NOW \n\nSpeaker: \nDr Jody Walshe\, Educational and Child Psychologist  \nDr Jody Walshe is an Educational and Child Psychologist working in London borough. Jody completed her doctorate at the University of East London. She is also a Consultant Psychologist providing consultations for foster carers and supervising social workers. She is a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council. Before commencing her training\, Jody worked as a teacher\, learning support assistant and tutor with young people from 5-19. The focus of much of her work looked at anxiety and mental health issues in school settings. Her doctoral research explored the experiences\, perceptions and training needs of secondary school staff working with self-harm. \n  \n\nThis event will be held jointly with:
