DESCRIPTION:🏷️ From £135\n🎧 This session is tailored for school nurses\, health centre and wellbeing staff who may encounter students presenting with self-harm and who want to enhance their skills in responding effectively\, compassionately\, and safely.\n📍 Online \n\nCourse outline \nSelf-harm is a complex and sensitive issue\, and school nurses\, health centre and wellbeing staff can often be amongst the first to identify and notice signs or have conversations with pupils who may be struggling. This interactive training session\, let by experienced trainer and speaker Satveer Nijjar\, is designed specifically for nurses and health staff working in school/college settings. \nThrough discussion\, practical examples and real-life insights\, participants will develop greater confidence and understanding in recognising\, responding to\, and supporting young people affected by self-harm. \nTraining topics: \n\nUnderstanding self-harm behaviours\nBroaching suspected self-harm\nLanguage use around self-harm presentations\nAlternative strategies.\n\nBOOK NOW \nThis event is joint with: \n \n\nSpeaker: \nSatveer Nijjar\, Independent Trainer \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSatveer is passionate about reducing stigma around mental ill health\, with a particular focus on improving understanding and responses to self-harm. She graduated in 2012 with a First-Class Honours degree in Psychology\, winning the Bernice McAuley Memorial Prize for her dissertation on self-harm and culture. She went on to found Attention Seekers Training\, delivering CPD-accredited self-harm awareness sessions across the UK and internationally. In 2023 alone\, she trained over 23\,000 people. Her work spans education\, health and corporate sectors\, and features in Head Talks\, the Boarding Schools Association Magazine\, and books by Natasha Devon and Jonny Benjamin.

As a counsellor\, clinical supervisor\, educator\, and school leader\, M J has developed and implemented comprehensive\, award-winning wellbeing and DEI strategies that promote safety\, belonging\, and mental health in young people in a variety of school settings. \n\n \nSkyler Moulder\, Lead Nurse\, The Leys School and Senior Nurse Advisor\, HIEDA \nSkyler did her Adult Nursing BSc at Kings College London in 2011 and went straight into community nursing. After the birth of her first son she stumbled into community school nursing and never looked back. During her time as a community school nurse she covered primary and secondary schools all across Cambridgeshire. She completed training such as the CAMHS foundation module\, Sexual Health and Contraception module and was trained in Safeguarding Children Level 3. She completed her PG Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing in 2016 when she was pregnant with her second son\, which she later topped up to a full MSc in 2023 when she was pregnant with her daughter! This also included qualifying as a Nurse Prescriber. Skyler co-lead the development of a 0-19 Duty Desk and the introduction of the Chathealth text service in Cambridgeshire Community Services. In 2019 she became a Team Manager for the CCS Healthy Child Programme – managing a team of Nursery Nurses\, Health Visitors and School Nurses during the pandemic. In 2020 she was recruited to be the Lead Nurse at The Leys in Cambridge\, to lead a team covering 24 hour care for around 575 pupils (over half of which are boarders). This is where she is now and where her passion for independent school nursing started.
