It will discuss the latest statistics\, management and support strategies for these conditions. \nTraining topics will include:  \n\nWhat is asthma? Whilst in PICU\, she had a number of different roles. Nine years of that included a role as a specialist retrieval nurse (CATS) that entailed travelling around the country to stabilise and bring back critically unstable children. To do this she learned advanced nursing and basic medical skills in resuscitation\, all medical conditions\, and trauma. \nShe went on to teach these skills to student nurses\, qualified nurses and junior doctors as the Practice educator on intensive care. This role also involved lecturing regularly at South Bank University. She has been a DSL for Safeguarding at an independent boarding school where she was Lead Nurse. She is also an instructor for Qualsafe\, an awarding body approved by the HSE. She is currently the director of Hieda and director of health and wellbeing for the BSA Group. \n\nSarah Baker Head of Health Policy and Developments Anaphylaxis UK \nSarah is a health professional with over 40 years of experience working in the NHS as a Children’s Nurse\, Health Visitor and latterly as an Executive Director in Community Health Trusts. \nAs Head of Health Policy and Developments Sarah works focuses on working with health partners ensuring Anaphylaxis UK provides the most up to date and clinically sound information to the allergic community. \nSarah brings a personal perspective of allergies to Anaphylaxis UK as she has multiple food allergies and carries adrenaline\, which enables her to appreciate the physical\, economic and psychological aspects of serious allergy and anaphylaxis for both children and their families. \n\nCherry Hagger\, Food Allergy Awareness Officer\, Allergy UK \nCherry’s role at Allergy UK pulls together her considerable knowledge and experience across 3 diverse but complementary sectors over the past 30 years. After careers in hospitality and banking\, she trained as a dietitian where she developed an interest in allergy. She has a love of science communication with extensive training experience both as a facilitator and developer for UK and global audiences in academia\, corporate\, public and charity sectors. Her skills and insight into the competing demands in business is being utilised to develop innovative allergy training for public and private sector food businesses & schools. Her role also included insulin pumps starts\, and she held nurse-led clinics\, which aimed to provide extra support and motivation for young people struggling to manage their diabetes. Kirsty was actively involved in educating others to support children and YP with Diabetes\, for example providing training days for nurses and other staff in schools. Kirsty’s Masters’ Dissertation Research Project looked into best ways of educating school staff around Diabetes. Lisa went on to certify in Applied Neuroscience and Brain Health\, Applied Neuroscience and Coaching and Women’s Health and Neurobiology. \nShe also gained a NLP Practitioner Coaching Diploma and certified as a Life Coaching Practitioner\, Youth Coach\, NLP Master Practitioner\, Hypnotherapy Practitioner\, Mental Health First Aid and completed a BPS approved certificate in clinical supervision. The specific focus of her work addresses the mind-body connection and the impact our language (self-talk) and belief system has on all aspects of health and wellbeing as well as self-esteem and confidence. The principles of Neuroscience underpin the work Lisa does as she believes it is essential to educate people on how the brain works\, how to influence mindset and to understand neuroplasticity (the ability of the brain to form and re-organise neural connections). Content also links with Annex C of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022 detailing role and responsibilities of Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads. \nCase study and practical learning examples are based on specific clinical practice examples and dilemmas and reference to specialist health evidence-base relevant to the role of the school nurse. He completed primary ophthalmic training at St Thomas’ Hospital and was later awarded a medical doctorate (MD) for his scientific research into new treatments for diabetic maculopathy at Kings College London. He completed higher ophthalmic training at Moorfields Eye Hospital\, the Royal Free Hospital and the Western Eye Hospital. He was then selected for advanced sub-specialist fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital where he developed expertise in cataract surgery and management of conditions affecting the retina which include diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration. \nHe has presented internationally and published widely on new medical retina imaging techniques and latest retinal treatments. He has also written three medical retina chapters in the award winning textbook ‘Atlas of Clinical Ophthalmology’ cited as one of the 100 most important ophthalmic books of the 20th century. He has also contributed to the development of the latest treatments for retinal vein occlusion such as intravitreal ozurdex. He currently leads a new service at two sites that delivers intravitreal lucentis treatment for diabetic macular oedema. \nMr Khan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth)\, a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO)\, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and the European Society of Retinal Specialists (EURETINA). \nMr Khan is renowned for his teaching excellence and is a clinical supervisor for the London School of Ophthalmology with particular interests in developing teaching programmes for optometrists and nurses. \n\nDr Alex Maxwell  \nDr Alex Maxwell is a GP\, School doctor\, Sports doctor and Lifestyle Medic. David has always held a keen interest in understanding pain experience and working with people who have long term pain conditions.  David has read widely on the subject of the pain science and management and has been fortunate to work with a number of forward thinking health professionals who have driven change in this area of healthcare. \nDavid held a pain specialist therapy role at Sheffield teaching hospital and was involved in supporting the development of a new community based model for pain services in South Yorkshire.  Since 2011 David has been working for Hywel Dda University Health Board based in Cardigan West Wales in a core MSK physiotherapy setting. In 2017 David set up the ESCAPE pain programme in his health board and went on to be the clinical champion for ESCAPE pain across Wales. \nIn 2019 David was one of 4 AHPs funded by Macmillan Cancer Support to develop cancer rehabilitation services for Hywel Dda. This role inspired him to complete his Lifestyle medicine diploma in 2020. The role culminated with the development of a virtual rehabilitation service supporting people with Prostate Cancer across the West Wales region (Prostate Active Care Together). \nDavid is currently working with a same day urgent care team in Cardigan supporting a nurse led service offering holistic and chronic health perspective in an acute service environment.
