She qualified as a teacher in 1991 and then spent her career in boarding school roles. Prior to that\, she was educated at Downend School\, Bristol. Gaining a First-Class degree in Human Biology and Geology from Hertfordshire University\, she then went on to study for a PGCE at the University of Oxford. She holds an MEd from the University of Bristol and is working towards her MA in Inclusive Education at Bath Spa University. She initially taught at Bromsgrove School and then at St John’s College School Cambridge\, before moving in 1995 to become a Housemistress at Westonbirt School. It didn’t take him long to realise that it wasn’t for him and he took to the high seas as a hydrographic surveyor during his 20s. After a long stint in an American hospital\, following a burst appendix 300 miles offshore\, he felt it was time for another change and qualified as a teacher in 2002. This was followed by work in both Prep and Secondary school settings until he settled down at Saint Ronan’s as Pastoral Deputy Head. Since he arrived\, the school has expanded and although there have been many changes to the school and the site\, a conscious effort has been made to preserve the school’s quirky historical ‘magic’. Ross started the school Farm\, with a small group of staff\, around 8 years ago. Since then the number of Farm animals has grown significantly and the Farm is managed by Debbie\, a local farmer. Ross enjoys the outdoor life\, hence his interest in and involvement in the Farm; spending time with his family and being back on the water whenever he can. \n  \nThis course is regulated and approved by Qualsafe\, which conforms with HSE guidance. \n  \n \nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Agreement *I would like to take part in this event and I agree to be invoiced (you will receive an automatic booking confirmation email once you have submitted this form)I would like to: *Take part in the event livePlease send me a recordingAre you a Hieda member? *YesNoWould you like to become a Hieda member?YesNoIf you select yes\, we will also use this form to complete your membership application and you will be invoiced for this event at the member rate in addition to your membership subscriptionDelegate name *FirstLastDelegate email *This is the email address we will send joining instructions to 48 hours before the eventCompany (if applicable)Add additional delegatesYesDelegate 2 nameFirstLastDelegate 2 emailAdd additional delegateYesNoDelegate 3 nameFirstLastDelegate 3 emailEnter discount codeBilling and T&C'sFinance department contact name *FirstLastFinance department email *Finance department telephone numberGDPR and privacy policy *By checking this box you confirm that you have read and agreed to our GDPR and privacy noticesHow did you hear about HiedaEmail newsletter / marketingSocial media e.g. Twitter\, LinkedIn etc.WebsiteSearch engine e.g. GoogleRecommendationOtherGDPR Agreement *I consent to having this website store my submitted information so they can respond to my enquiry. SUMMARY:Could you support student nurses in your school? An overview of what is involved
DESCRIPTION:Audience:\nRegistered school nurses currently practicing in independent schools\, able to support student nurse placements. \n  \nCourse outline:\nThis webinar aims to talk about how an independent school is a valuable work placement for a student nurse. Following the outbreak of COVID-19\, there has been an increase in applications to universities for nursing courses. There is also a drive to improve community health provision. Independent schools\, that have school nurses\, are in a unique position to offer an experience in this setting that utilises and develops a wide range of skills. Whether it is mental health\, first aid\, care of the chronic medical condition\, health promotion or administration of routine medications\, the school setting would enable a student to understand the important role school nurses can provide in the emotional wellbeing\, physical health\, growth and development of a child. \n  \nTopics include:\n\nWhat a school needs to do or have in order to provide placements for student nurses\nHow the placement system would work in practice\nCase study from a school that currently supports student nurse placements.\n\n  \nLearning outcomes\n\nUnderstanding of what is involved in having university student nurses in the school setting\nTo be able to put together a proposal for supporting student nurses in your setting.\n\nCost\n\nMember rate: £60 (additional attendee: £15)\nNon-member rate: £120*\n\n  \n*If you would like to become a member and access discounted rates for Hieda CPD and events\, please click here. \n \nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Agreement *I would like to take part in this event and I agree to be invoiced (you will receive an automatic booking confirmation email once you have submitted this form)I would like to: *Take part in the event livePlease send me a recordingAre you a Hieda member?
