Course outline

This interactive, meeting-style training session helps staff explore real-life challenges in education while developing practical, solution-focused skills. The event blends discussion, scenario-based activities, and reflection to strengthen staff confidence and capability. The session will cover:

  • Student achievement and wellbeing
We will look at what success really means for students—beyond grades—by exploring academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal growth. Staff will examine barriers such as attendance, behaviour, mental health, and socio-economic factors, and take part in group scenarios to reflect on how current systems support student needs.
  • Leadership, purpose and team alignment
The session will help staff define success at personal, team, and whole-school levels. Activities will focus on building a shared vision, strengthening motivation, and aligning practice with school values and mission.
  • Compassion, resilience and emotional balance
Participants will explore the balance between compassion and resilience in education, learning how to recognise early signs of emotional strain and maintain wellbeing in demanding roles.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, staff will:

  • Understand how mental strength supports success
  • Learn skills to develop and apply mental resilience
  • Use these skills to create a clear, practical way forward
