Course outline:
When a student is referred to physiotherapy, the first 48hrs following assessment are critical in ensuring effective management, recovery, and communication across the school team. This webinar, led by an expert physio in a school, will explore key considerations for non-qualified or support staff in managing the early phase following referral, from immediate care and monitoring to supporting long-term goals.
Delegates will be supported in managing the acute phase of injury, knowing when to escalate or refer for further investigation, and understanding how to engage with the physiotherapist’s plan to promote recovery.
This webinar will also cover how to involve teaching, boarding and pastoral staff in supporting pupils’ goals, adapting activities and schedules where needed and keeping the pupil connected to school life while they recover.
Training topics will include:
- Understanding the priorities of the first 48hrs following referral
- Recognising the signs and symptoms for referral or escalation
- Supporting care plans and rehabilitation
- Balancing recovery, curriculum and extra-curriculars and strengthening collaboration across school.
