Trainer:

Dr David Easton

David is a Senior Urgent Care Practitioner with a long-term focus on a holistic and patient-centred care. A physiotherapist by training, and also holds the diploma in Lifestyle medicine.

David completed his degree in 2000 at Northumbria University. Since then, he has worked in a range of health care settings within the NHS and private sector across the UK and Channel Islands. David has always held a keen interest in understanding pain experience and working with people who have long term pain conditions.  David has read widely on the subject of the pain science and management and has been fortunate to work with a number of forward thinking health professionals who have driven change in this area of healthcare.

David held a pain specialist therapy role at Sheffield teaching hospital and was involved in supporting the development of a new community based model for pain services in South Yorkshire.  Since 2011 David has been working for Hywel Dda University Health Board based in Cardigan West Wales in a core MSK physiotherapy setting. In 2017 David set up the ESCAPE pain programme in his health board and went on to be the clinical champion for ESCAPE pain across Wales.

In 2019 David was one of 4 AHPs funded by Macmillan Cancer Support to develop cancer rehabilitation services for Hywel Dda. This role inspired him to complete his Lifestyle medicine diploma in 2020. The role culminated with the development of a virtual rehabilitation service supporting people with Prostate Cancer across the West Wales region (Prostate Active Care Together).
