Course outline:
Many of us are struggling to cope with the huge rise in mental health issues we are experiencing and supporting in the workplace. This Mental Health and Wellbeing series of workshops has been designed to educate you and provide you with support strategies. These workshops will be interactive providing useful information and resources, and a safe space to discuss and reflect on current issues and how to deal with them. The aim of this workshop series is to embed best practice in schools to support statutory requirements, taking a practical and proactive approach to help young people thrive and flourish.

Mental Health vs Mental Illness & The Teenage Brain
- We will explore the difference between mental health and mental illness.
- Current statistics and trends.
- How to recognise signs and symptoms of poor mental health.
- The Teenage Brain – understanding how brain development affects mental wellbeing in teens

- We will explore what stress is and how to recognise signs and symptoms.

- Tools and strategies from a bio-psycho-social perspective.
Trauma Informed Practice and becoming more aware
- We will explore what trauma is and how it can present itself.
- Different types of trauma and what it means to be trauma aware.
- Emotion Coaching and Co-regulation
- Tools and strategies to work with children and young people who are struggling.
Eating Disorders
- We will explore definitions of eating disorders and how they present themselves.
- Causes of eating disorders and understanding the emotional connection.

Suicide
- Statistics and trends around suicide

Speaker:
Lisa Jones
Lisa Jones is a multi-award-winning, science driven, fact-based therapist, coach and passionate trainer who believes that prevention is better than intervention. Lisa works in both the corporate and education sector teaching others the importance of brain health, resilience, stress management and emotional wellbeing as well as running a busy private practice. Lisa is a fully qualified and insured Psychotherapist, Counsellor, Wellbeing Coach and Mental Health Consultant registered with The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She is also a senior accredited member of The National Counselling Society and The Association for Coaching. After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy, Lisa went on to work with adults to overcome addiction and mental health issues. Having experienced chronic ill health for many years, Lisa developed a keen interest in brain health and the brain / mind/ body connection. Lisa was fascinated by how our minds can influence our wellbeing and vice versa. After learning to manager her own health issues, she then specialised in the field of chronic ill health and stress. Lisa went on to certify in Applied Neuroscience and Brain Health, Applied Neuroscience and Coaching and Women’s Health and Neurobiology. She also gained a NLP Practitioner Coaching Diploma and certified as a Life Coaching Practitioner, Youth Coach, NLP Master Practitioner, Hypnotherapy Practitioner, Mental Health First Aid and completed a BPS approved certificate in clinical supervision. She is also currently studying a MA in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy. The specific focus of Lisa’s work addresses the mind-body connection and the impact our language (self-talk) and belief system has on all aspects of health and wellbeing as well as self-esteem and confidence. The principles of Neuroscience underpin the work Lisa does as she believes it is essential to educate people on how the brain works, how to influence mindset and to understand neuroplasticity (the ability of the brain to form and re-organise neural connections). By doing so, this enables us to build resilience, develop essential life skills and learn how to manage stress effectively. Lisa is passionate about promoting an integrative approach to Mental Health and Wellbeing in Education and believes that everyone should be equipped with essential skills to confidently manage the stresses in life, as well as having the tools and knowledge to support young people and to be able to confidently signpost and safeguard.
