Course outline:
This session’s aim is to raise awareness about the inequities that persist in health and mental health fields. We will explore how bias, systemic factors, including socio-economic status, race, SEND, and access to services, can shape pupils’ health and mental wellbeing. We’ll examine how these inequities can present and discuss practical, approaches to identifying need early, responding effectively, and working in partnership to ensure more equitable support for every young person.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the key drivers of health and mental health inequities affecting children and young people
- Recognise how these inequities may manifest in behaviour, attendance, and engagement in school
- Identify practical strategies to promote equity, early intervention, and inclusive wellbeing support within your setting.
