We are looking for a School Nurse to provide health services to students when they are at school. Treating injuries and mild to acute illnesses, and supporting students with chronic illnesses. You will also help with preventive care by educating students on how to avoid communicable diseases and having proper hygiene together with arranging and conducting medicals/health interviews and planning and implementing, in conjunction with the local child health team, a full programme of childhood vaccinations. There will also be a requirement to plan and teach PSHE and sex education in conjunction with the School’s PSHE team, and train staff to deal with specific health problems, deal with specific medical emergencies and administer certain medication e.g. Epipen
We are a school with pupils from the age of 2 up to 18, a small proportion of which are from overseas. We are a wonderfully diverse community, truly reflecting our surrounding population and the post holder will be responsible for providing health services across the whole school – Nursery & Infants, Juniors, Seniors and Sixth Form sections.
To succeed in this role you should be able to communicate effectively with school-age children and their families, have good communication and IT skills.
This is a term time (181 days) plus 2 weeks position and is full time at 35 hours per week. The salary will be between SP 23-35 £22,096 to £27,013 (pro rata of £25,762 and £31,495) per annum depending on skills and experience.
