Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust
Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust was rated good by the Care Quality Commission in its recent inspection report published in January 2020.
The Trust is committed to driving excellence in care for patients and communities, through its five-year strategy ‘Working Together’. In support of its strategy, in July 2020, the Trust became a university hospital, and will work to drive benefits for patients, colleagues and the local community by embedding research, education and training across the organisation.
The Trust’s main hub is the Queen Alexandra Hospital, which started life more than a century ago as a military hospital. Today it is one of the largest, modern hospitals on the south coast, with 1,200 beds housed in light, bright, infection resistant, en-suite wards. With a turnover of close to £600m, the Trust provides comprehensive secondary care and specialist services to a local population of 675,000 people across South East Hampshire. Some tertiary services are provided to a wider catchment in excess of two million people. The Trust employs over 7,300 staff and is the largest employer in Portsmouth.
Being You @ PHU
Our patients come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it makes our hospital stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for getting it right for patients, colleagues and our community you will find a home at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU).
In recruiting for our team, we welcome the unique contributions that you can bring in terms of your education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, veteran’s status, colour, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs.
If you are a senior nurse seeking the next big adventure, then look no further. The Surgery and Outpatient Division has recently restructured, creating a number of new opportunities and the Division is seeking a highly experienced nurse leader.
The Senior Matron will ensure the quality, safety and patient experience agenda is front and centre of the MSK Care Group, leading on Governance and supporting our nurse teams to achieve the best for patients. This is an ideal post for an experienced matron looking for that next step.
There will be elements of governance and opportunities to develop leadership skills both within and outside of both the Care Group and Division.
Delivering Excellence is more that the title at the top of this page – it is an ambitious plan of improvement and development within the organisation. The Trust received a rating of GOOD at our last CQC inspection and our sights are firmly placed on achieving OUSTANDING. Can we do this? With you in our team, yes… yes we can.
As this is a senior leadership roles there is a requirement to participate in additional duties and the postholder will cover the Trust Duty Matron role (supporting staffing and safety across the site until 8pm), an average of twice per month.
To have an informal discussion about this opportunity please contact Steve Thomas, Divisional Director of Nursing by email: email@example.com or call 02392 286950.
