Job Description

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust was rated good by the Care Quality Commission in its recent inspection report published in January 2020.

The Trust is committed to driving excellence in care for patients and communities, through its five-year strategy ‘Working Together’. In support of its strategy, in July 2020, the Trust became a university hospital, and will work to drive benefits for patients, colleagues and the local community by embedding research, education and training across the organisation.

The Trust’s main hub is the Queen Alexandra Hospital, which started life more than a century ago as a military hospital. Today it is one of the largest, modern hospitals on the south coast, with 1,200 beds housed in light, bright, infection resistant, en-suite wards. With a turnover of close to £600m, the Trust provides comprehensive secondary care and specialist services to a local population of 675,000 people across South East Hampshire. Some tertiary services are provided to a wider catchment in excess of two million people. The Trust employs over 7,300 staff and is the largest employer in Portsmouth.
