JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic NMC registered Nurse, preferably with experience within an acute hospital setting – this could be surgical, acute admissions or even children’s nurses.
We will provide extensive in-house training in order to assist you in developing the skills required to fulfil this role. No previous ophthalmology experience is required but a keen interest in the speciality is desirable.

We are an eye emergency service providing a telephone triage and emergency walk in service for patients 7 days a week. We do not cover nights.

We see on average 1600 patients a month – both adults and children. As a large regional unit we see referrals to eye casualty from surrounding hospitals including private and independent sector eye units who do not have an emergency service to manage complex eye emergencies.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Provide a high standard of individualised nursing care to patients presenting with urgent/ emergency eye conditions

Demonstrate a high level of communication in order to effectively triage patients over the telephone as well as face to face

Develop personally and professionally into undertaking all aspects of the role

 

LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible nurse to join our eye casualty team.

You will have acute nursing experience preferably in a hospital setting.

You will be able to demonstrate previous experience or enthusiasm to teach and supervise others

You will need to be able to cover the range of shifts that allow us to staff the department from 7.30am until 8pm 7 days a week, including bank holidays.
