This is an exciting opportunity to join the Induction and Transition team within Student Services at the University of Chester. As part of a large, vibrant department the Induction and Transition team helps to coordinate welcome activities and orientation to the university for new students. The team also proactively supports underrepresented groups of students, linked to the university’s Access & Participation Plan.
As Student Experience Project Officer (International) you will deliver high-level project work specifically aimed at enhancing the international student experience. You will be the lead within Student Services for delivery of presentations, workshops and Q&A sessions to students and staff about the international student experience, and an active member of university committees and working groups as a point of expertise within the department.
You will also provide one-to-one support to vulnerable students, managing a caseload and working with colleagues to support students on complex matters (eg. visa issues and applications for asylum). There will also be opportunity to work closely with colleagues on wider university projects that support the student experience, particularly around induction, retention and successful outcomes for underrepresented student groups.
An understanding of the student experience and the challenges that international students face transitioning to HE in the UK is essential for this role. You will have strong cultural awareness and an enthusiasm for supporting students to succeed. You will possess a can-do attitude, and be keen to develop new skills. You willhave excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to multi task within a customer service focused role.
