Teacher – Inclusion & Wellbeing – Connolly School Campus, 35 hours per week, fixed term until 16th April 2023, Closing date 24th October 2021

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a subject specialist teacher to become part of our innovative 0-18 Inclusion and Support Service within the additional support needs sector across West Lothian. This opportunity is open to all subject specialist practitioners due to the unique cross-sector approach of the Inclusion and Support Service.

The service is led by a Head Teacher and three Depute Head Teachers who oversee the three strands of our service model: ISS Connolly School Campus, ISS Early Intervention Teams and ISS Secondary. The service consists of 68 multi-skilled practitioners who work across all 66 primary schools and 11 secondary schools in West Lothian along with our own specialist centres at Connolly School Campus and our Skills Centre. The service supports over 600 children with a wide range of additional support needs from 0-18 including: sensory needs; autistic spectrum needs; social, emotional and/or emotional needs; attention deficit and hyperactivity needs; mental health needs; interrupted learning issues; looked after children and children and young people with learning needs.

The approach of the Inclusion and Support Service promotes the ‘presumption of mainstream’ as well as supporting children and young people who require a more therapeutic approach to their wellbeing.

The successful candidate will have the necessary experience and leadership skills to assist in taking forward the principles of Curriculum for Excellence and GIRFEC in order to support the improvement agenda of the service. The successful candidate will support the vision for the service and implement strategies to achieve this vision. This is a key post which comes at an exciting and challenging time for education in the service. The successful candidate will work in partnership with a wide range of agencies and partner organisations including Social Policy, Educational Psychology, NHS service areas and third sector organisations.
