Course outline:Â
This course is accredited by Mental Health First Aid England. It is a two-day course suitable for anyone who works with young people up to the age of 18.Â
This training gives the holder an in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing. It helps to develop practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues. It gives the holder knowledge to help a young person recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s through self-help sites, their place of learning, the NHS, or a mix – engaging with parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate.Â

Allison Onions, Head of Safeguarding and Mental Health, St George’s School, WindsorÂ
Ally Onions is currently the Head of Safeguarding and Mental Health at St George’s School Windsor Castle. With her husband Jonny, they run the boarding house, which includes looking after the choristers who sing in St George’s Chapel. Ally has worked in boarding education for over 20 years. She recently completed an MA in Boarding Education, looking at resilience and prep boarders. Ally is a trained Mental Health First Aider and Instructor Member, and is currently rolling out training to staff and parents.
