This aspiration requires a fully committed partnership approach, which recognises that improving mental health and wellbeing is everyone’s business. The scope and scale of this work must take into consideration national and local priorities for ensuring the mental health and wellbeing needs of people living in East Lothian are met. We are committed to delivering a staged model of mental health and wellbeing that reflects the age and needs of child, young people and parents. This model aims to improve integration, co-ordination and delivery of community based mental health and wellbeing support and to offer a consistent level of support and interventions across East Lothian. We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated and dynamic who can work as part of a senior leadership team to take forward the development and redesign of services to support the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people and families. As the co-ordinator for mental health and wellbeing you will work collaboratively with multi-agency partners across the Local Authority and NHS Health Board and will contribute to all aspects of the coordination, design, development and delivery of community-based mental health and wellbeing supports and interventions.

Job Details

To co-ordinate the design, development and delivery of community-based mental health and wellbeing supports and interventions for children and young people in East Lothian.  Focussing on ages of 5-24 years (26 for care leavers) by ensuring that services are in line with GIRFEC, national priorities and principles and are relevant to local needs.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject area such as community education, psychology or mental health. Extensive experience of supporting the development and delivery of community based interventions and previous experience of work to support the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people and families.

Driving Licence 
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
