Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager who is dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic to join our team here at Down On The Farm Nursery.

We are a small nursery registered for 17 children , we have a little red tractor room and a big blue tractor room.

Our setting is based in a farming environment, where the children get to go on farm walks to see cows, chickens and ponies and explore the farming cycle all year round.

We close for two weeks at Christmas, 1 week at Easter and two weeks in the Summer holidays. The successful applicant will work and 8 hour day, working either 7.45-4.15 or 8.45-5.15.

Applicants must hold a minimum level 3 childcare qualification

Previous nursery Leadership or Management is essential.

The successful candidate must:

  • Support the Nursery Manager in the running and operation of the nursery and provide overall Management in the Managers absence.
  • Be experienced, professional, passionate and enthusiastic in delivering excellent standards of childcare
  • Have sound knowledge and understanding of the EYFS, Ofsted requirements, Safeguarding, SEND, Safer recruitment, First aid and Health and safety
  • Demonstrate outstanding staff management skills, be able to lead, motivate, support and inspire a team of childcare professionals in delivering the EYFS
  • Be welcoming, caring, trustworthy and approachable
  • Have exceptional communication skills, oral and written
  • Maintain outstanding relationships with parents, carers, children, colleagues and external agencies
  • Ensure policies and procedures are implemented, always reviewed and adhered to
  • Role model and promote excellent standards of care and quality practice
  • Be an effective trainer for in-house staff training
  • Support staff in their continuous professional development
  • Appraise staff practice, complete staff quality of teaching observations
  • Have strong administrative and organisation skills
  • Be computer literate
  • Work alongside the nursery owner and Manager to uphold an excellent reputation
