Job Description

Our Client’s nursing team provides 24-hour assessment, treatment, diagnosis and emergency care for children and young people with complex learning difficulties and epilepsy. They are a unique organisation, with children and young people accessing their services for care, education, nursing and therapy in Much Hadham, Hertfordshire. At a time of positive change for the charity, they are seeking an exceptional Head of Children’s Nursing who can bring strong delivery and clinical leadership to their team of talented Nurses.

You will continuously improve and innovate through collaboration and team work, ensuring that they achieve and exceed their current Good rating set by CQC. You will take responsibility for maintaining and improving all nursing services across Our Client whilst working alongside other multi-disciplinary staff and management. You will provide an excellent nursing service, implementing best practice and improving standards and quality at all times. You will act as a mentor to the nursing team, ensuring appraisals and supervisions are carried out to operational standards, whilst demonstrating effective leadership skills within clinical services.

The post holder will be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people and will be the designated registered manager for  Our Client’s nursing agency, as registered with CQC.

About you 

The successful candidate will be an innovative, compassionate and inspiring leader, who has experience as a Band 7 NMC Registered Nurse (or equivalent). Leading teams will come naturally to you as you manage, support and develop the nursing team to deliver safe, kind and excellent nursing care. Alongside your extensive clinical and leadership skills and experience, you will have excellent knowledge and understanding of learning disabilities and associated behaviours, along with epilepsy and its complexities.

Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This may include one weekend every 4 weeks and one late shift per week.
