Writtle University College (WUC) is one of the oldest specialist institutions in the UK and offers a range of land-based, animal and sport courses at various levels of academic study including Postgraduate, Undergraduate, Further Education, Short Courses and Apprenticeships. The Head of Safeguarding and Student Wellbeing is a critical leadership position which will support WUC’s students to fulfil their potential as individuals and enable them to be active participants in their own educational experiences and the transformational opportunities available to them. Reporting to the Director of HR & Student Services, you will contribute to the development and implementation of a new Wellbeing Strategy for WUC, which draws from sector good practice and encourages a forward-thinking whole community approach. You will lead student wellbeing and inclusion services to provide an outstanding professional and proactive specialist support service for students, within a wider safe, healthy, and inclusive environment.
We are looking for an exceptional individual with substantial safeguarding experience and in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, procedures, and good practice regarding students, ideally from a Further or Higher Education environment. You will have a successful track record of leading improvements and implementing best practice in safeguarding and supportive, enabling student services with a thorough understanding of mental health difficulties, care pathways and services. You will possess excellent relationship-building skills, a personal ethos of excellent service and the expertise to further develop our safeguarding and wellbeing team.
This role will be based from our Chelmsford campus. Smart hybrid working arrangements are being trialed at WUC and can be discussed further at interview
