About the role

The H&W Specialist within the SHE & Assurance team will be the Subject Matter Expert accountable for the design and delivery of a range of H&W programmes and policies that deliver value and benefit for GT. Key requirements of the role are to identify and understand potential H&W risks within the GT workforce, as well as developing and implementing solutions to mitigate those risks in line with best practice and legislative requirements. It is critical that the role supports the H&W needs of employees and line managers and where necessary drives improvements to enhance controls and individual understanding.

Key accountabilities

  • Be the centre of excellence within GT for H&W issues, programmes, and best practice.
  • Develop and deliver the strategy for the provision of wellbeing services, policies, standards, and high-level procedures to GT ensuring they deliver legislative requirements, business needs and value.
  • Collaboratively engage the Occupational H&W service providers at a GT level and use their expertise to support the development of tools to measure performance and assist in the analysis of data.
  • Support in the delivery of a sustained change programme for wellbeing by working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders (including mental health charities) to improve the way H&W issues are addressed within the organisation.
  • Identify, interpret, and remediate emerging requirements which may impact on the business.
  • Work with the business to develop a clear direction and effective strategy for helping to identify and manage work related or work impacting stress through risk assessment, training, and support.
  • Adopt and deliver new and innovative approaches to the management of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, supported by external networking, research and best practice.
  • Develop and maintain a range of measures and key performance indicators that helps inform our performance in managing H&W. Analyse trends and draw conclusions from these metrics to inform the business of future priorities and improvement areas.
  • Provide pro-active and reactive information and advice to key stakeholders.

About you

  • Passionate about safety, health, and wellbeing, with high levels of enthusiasm and drive to achieve results.
  • Experience of delivering mental health and wellbeing programmes, ideally within a multi discipline corporate setting.
  • Knowledge and application of the HSE Management standards.
  • Engaging and influencing senior management, line managers, employee representatives and other specialists to support in designing and adopting wellbeing programmes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate articulately at all levels.
  • Resilient with the confidence and courage to challenge behaviours and issues.
  • Ability to think of innovative new ways in which to engage the business and devise creative solutions.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage own workload.

Qualification

Essential (at appointment): NEBOSH National Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or NEBOSH National Certificate in Health and Safety.

  • Suitable technical or professional qualification such as degree in Psychology or Behavioural Science.

Desirable: NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety

  • Msc level qualification in Health, Organisational or Business Psycholog

A competitive salary between £38,900-45,760 – dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
