We are looking to recruit an experienced and dynamic Health and Wellbeing Intelligence Lead who will provide a comprehensive information, analysis and research service to Reading Borough Council’s Public Health and Wellbeing Team.

This is an exciting time to join our team in Reading; as we learn to live with COVID-19 we are launching a new 10-year Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy for the Berkshire West area. This strategy is vital to our recovery from the pandemic and to address the health inequalities in Reading, many of which have widened during COVID-19.

We seek the best talent from the widest pool of people as diversity and inclusion is the key to our success. Reading Borough Council is a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to the recruitment and continued employment of people with disabilities.

About the role:

Reporting directly to the Performance Data Manager in the Directorate of Adult Social Care and Health, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing up-to-date information about health needs in the local population, including sourcing, evaluating, critically appraising and interpreting evidence and information, and utilising appropriate statistical methods to interpret and evaluate quantitative data.

The postholder will work closely with the Public Health Consultant who will provide strategic direction and professional support.

The central role of the post will be to produce clear, accurate, and relevant performance and business information to facilitate and promote effective performance management of health and wellbeing services.

The candidate will also provide regular performance reporting and in-depth analysis to support the delivery of the Health and Wellbeing Strategy, promoting good understanding of local factors affecting health inequalities, health outcomes and performance against key indicators.

About you:
You will have relevant qualification to NVQ level 4 or equivalent in community development, health, wellbeing and a working knowledge of Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity within a local authority context.

You will have demonstrable experience in managing people and projects and in partnership working with a wide range of stakeholders, including the NHS and community or voluntary sector groups.

The post holder will need to utilise their strong analysis and data processing skills to provide detailed and effective reports to the Public Health and Wellbeing team.

You will have practical experience of managing projects in a complex partnership environment as well as using case management systems to collect information and produce reports.

You will develop a working knowledge of relevant local services and initiatives that can contribute to the Berkshire West Health & Wellbeing Strategy, to enable informed decision-making throughout the various stages of implementation and ensure effective briefing of senior officers and stakeholders.

You will be experienced in managing a broad portfolio of work with competing demands. There will be a requirement to work some evenings and the occasional weekend.

TEAM Reading
You’ll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability. As well as the colleagues that you work closely with every day, you’ll also be part of Team Reading, playing your personal part in making Reading a successful and vibrant place.

Our vision is to ensure that Reading realises its potential as a great place to live, work and play, and that everyone shares the benefits of this success. Our values and behaviours guide how we will achieve this:

Work Together as one team – work collaboratively, with each other and with our partners, and demonstrate the Team Reading values in everything we do

Make a Difference to Reading – maintain the highest levels of customer service and be flexible and willing to provide the services needed at the time they are needed

Our offer
A competitive salary alongside a range of benefits including:

  • Generous holiday entitlement – 24 days holiday each year plus bank holidays – rising to 32 days after 10 years’ service, with the option to buy additional leave
  • Maternity, adoption, parental and sick pay
  • A wide range of flexible working opportunities
  • Access to a range of training and learning opportunities to help you develop
