Salary: £27,000 – £28,000 per annum FTE (£22,119 – £22,938 pro rata)

Overview
We are currently looking for a caring and enthusiastic House Matron to join our ‘Outstanding’ rated boarding team.
You will work closely with the Head of Boarding, Head Matron and the Boarding Team in all areas of the College. You will be responsible for safeguarding the welfare and wellbeing of students, and will assist the Accommodation Team and Student Services in the smooth running of the domestic arrangements of the Boarding Houses.
As a House Parent, your role will be to provide top quality pastoral care for our students, making them feel part of our College community and supporting them in their journey towards independent living at university and beyond. This will involve upholding student welfare, maintaining discipline and assisting students with their time management.

Duties and Responsibilities
· To prioritise the safeguarding, welfare, health and safety of students above all other duties, and ensure familiarity with statutory safeguarding and child protection needs. To have strong awareness of College policies to develop a supportive, caring and effective relationships with the students. To always lead by example, always upholding the of the duty of care “in loco parentis”.
- Offer support and guidance to all boarders, actively promoting the student welfare as well as enforcing positive behaviour policies.
- Supporting students who are ill or injured by providing first aid, medical support, as well as escorting students to medical appointments.
- To promote good personal hygiene, tidiness, cleanliness, good housekeeping and healthy eating practices.
- Ensure Boarding is maintained to the highest standard to allow students to thrive in both their educational studies and personal lives.
- To report and follow up student absence appropriately.
- To communicate with parents/guardians where appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
You will demonstrate the ability to build excellent relationships with young people, by being supportive and caring. You will have the ability to remain calm under pressure and a flexible approach to duties. Hold A Levels or equivalent qualifications or experience, be competent in the use of a PC, particularly the use of MS Word and Outlook, and have a working knowledge of record keeping and data protection. You will have excellent verbal and written English, good communication and organisational skills and have a working understanding of child protection. Higher level qualifications and previous experience working with children or in a care setting is desirable.
