To take the lead in coordination of specific School Aged Vaccine Preventable Disease Programmes across Powys. This will include the routine immunisation schedule, and offering vaccinations in response to emergency situations should they arise e.g. Catch up programmes. The work of the Immunisation Co-Ordinator for school-based vaccinations, focuses on ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to, enabling safe, effective administration of immunisations in schools and other areas where vaccinations are offered to school aged children.

This includes children receiving their education in alternate settings e.g. home education, pupil referral units and private schools. The post holder will be expected to work in conjunction with The Team Leaders and with colleagues within a team, supporting school-based immunisation objectives. This will include complex interactions involving multi-disciplinary and multi-agency contact.

Coordinate education, training and advice to school nurses to support and improve immunisation programmes. Work in collaborative manner within Powys Health Board to assist and develop an All-Powys approach. Take responsibility for work delegated by the Immunisation Coordinator, and Team Leader for School Nursing, and initiate and take the lead on specific issues related to immunisation. Organise and manage personal workload efficiently, ensuring that local, regional, and national VPDP work programmes are met.

The post holder will undertake clinical immunisation practice and supervise immunisation sessions.
