The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Lead Health and Wellbeing Practitioner (Occupational Health), based in the West Service Delivery Area in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire but with flexibility to deliver the service throughout Scotland.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity, working 35 hours per week.
Working with the Health and Wellbeing Manager and Clinical Lead, the successful candidate will be required to influence the development and provision of an effective Health and Wellbeing Service within the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Leading and managing a team of occupational health practitioners, acting as an expect clinical advisor, and providing advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders; the successful applicant will play a key role in the delivery and development of robust clinical governance whilst contributing to a range of projects that underpin a culture of health and wellbeing at every level across SFRS.
A Registered Nurse (RN) with post registration experience, this position requires a Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health/Public Health (Registered Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner). A strong track record of leading and managing health professionals; success in supporting specialist Health and Wellbeing projects and complex case management experience are essential, underpinned with an expansive knowledge of clinical governance. With excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders, the successful applicant will be a confident planner; a critical thinker and a team player.
A full, clean driving licence is essential as applicants are required to have the ability to travel as work demands throughout Scotland.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review – in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
This post is subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order 2013. The successful candidate will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and will be required to carry out regulated work with adults and children.
