Based both at home and DHSCP Claverhouse East office you will work full time, 37 hours per week.

Requirements

You will have a degree in Social Work, CQSW, CSS (with appropriate option), Dip SW or equivalent and MHO Accredited.

Responsibilities

To provide an effective high quality Mental Health Officer service to individuals and families with mental health problems ensuring effective statutory requirements are met in respect of the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968, The Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, The Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000, and Criminal Procedures (Scotland) Act 1995, associated guidance and codes of practice.

The Individual

You will have a working knowledge of mental health legislation, mental health issues, community care resource requirements and experience of working with other professionals. You will also have assessment and care planning skills, the ability to assess and manage risk, strong negotiating and advocacy skills and ability to prioritise workloads and meet challenges and deadlines. You will also have the ability to use your own initiative, be flexible, motivate self and others and have a positive attitude as a team player.

You will be able to travel to undertake duties of this post effectively.

You will be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
