Paediatric Nurse – Complex Care

**SALARY NEGOTIABLE**
Home Based – Cleveleys / Nelson / Blackburn

Office Based – Rishton

Mon – Fri (one in three on-call)

Overview

This is a full time position – as a Paediatric nurse you will handle cases of children with high dependency care needs, resulting from a Spinal or Brain Injury, from long term and degenerative conditions to congenital diseases.

You will provide the support the client’s needs to manage their condition and maintain a lifestyle they choose. Furthermore, you will ensure the quality of clinical input and documentation alongside providing clinical supervision, signing off training and competencies of carers and personal assistants.

The post holder would be involved in:

  • Close liaison work with the acute paediatric team / CEAU to support early discharge home, prevention of admission and service development within the context of Care Closer to Home.
  • Clinical support within the special needs schools.
  • Provide professional advice and care for the Children
  • Work in partnership with a variety of multi-disciplinary agencies to provide skilled nursing care to children and young people in a variety of community settings.
  • Participate in meeting the developing needs of the client
  • Training, assessing and education of staff
  • Delegated responsibilities

Substantial paediatric experience is required, and previous experience working with children with acute and complex healthcare needs, mentorship qualification is preferred.

Requirements

  • RCN (Children’s Nurse) qualified with a valid NMC pin
  • Experience working within Complex Care (Acquired Brain Injury, Spinal Injury, High Dependency and Intensive Care Unit settings) imperative
  • Competent in training Tracheostomy, Ventilator and PEG Feed packages
  • Extensive understanding of Care Quality Commission standards and Governance
  • Data driven, comfortable in analysing service outcome information and problem-solving
  • Passionate in promoting independence for those needing complex care from long term conditions

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary contract
Contract length: 12 months
