To work autonomously as part of the school nursing team, to promote the health and wellbeing of school aged children and young people in all aspects of physical. Mental and emotional health.  This is achieved through health surveillance and screening, detecting signs of ill health and abnormalities and supporting independent lifestyle choices to promote health in both the school and community setting.

What we’ll need you to bring

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • Full UK/EU/EEA Driving Licence
  • The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
  • Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology

It would be great if you also have

  • Some experience working within a community setting.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Knowledge of the immunisation programme for children age 5-19.
  • Awareness and understanding of
  • child protection issues and protocol
  • Knowledge of child development/disease i.e asthma

Contract type

Fixed Term until 26/06/2024

Part Time

30 hours

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Please note this is a fixed term post until 26/06/2024. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in School Immunisation Team within Coathill Hospital.

The working pattern for this role is 8am -4 pm, Monday – Friday (Term Time Contract)
