Job Description

Term time only (33 weeks during term time and 3 weeks worked during the holidays).
Salary is equivalent to RGN Band 6–7, pro rata
An average of 40 hours per week, 8.5 and 12.5 hour shifts spread over 7 days per week  

The Role: You will be expected to clinically assess, treat and deliver care whilst focusing on improving the pupil’s health literacy. This will include creating individual cares plans for pupils with long-term conditions, teaching pupils about health prevention and screening, and supporting the formation and delivery of clinics and policies. You will plan and manage your own clinics for the clinical areas you take a lead on. The School Nurse/Paramedic would also ideally be confident with musculoskeletal assessment as all clinicians get the opportunity to provide pitch side medical cover. Our friendly team covers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during term time.

The Skills: You will be band 6 NME registered, with a dual RN/child branch qualification and evidence of continuing education. This role would suit a candidate who is confident in working autonomously and who enjoys working with adolescents. Ideally, you will have experience working in schools, A&E or sports injuries or may have held a position as a practice nurse.

The Environment: Harrow School is situated in Harrow on the Hill, northwest London, and is one of the best-known schools in the world. Approximately 840 boys study at Harrow and live in the School’s 12 boarding houses. The Medical Centre team provides a full-time comprehensive healthcare service for the pupils and employees of the School. The level of involvement for the latter is largely on an emergency basis. In addition to the Lead Nurse, the medical staff comprises five nurses, one school doctor and one sports doctor. The Medical Centre is open 24/7 with one nurse/paramedic being on duty overnight.
