Powys Teaching Health Board as looking for a dynamic individual with a strong public health focus to join the School Nursing team and work in the south Powys area. The service is committed to improving the health and well being of the school aged population by providing a proactive, child focused service that can be easily accessed by children, young people and their families.

The caseload will include High Schools and their primary school communities. The successful applicant would be supported by a team of experienced school nurses. Travel expenses will be paid in line with local policy and travel undertaken for the purpose of clinical duties.

The Band 6 post holder will need to have undertaken or be undertaking the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification.

The ability to work autonomously whilst being part of a larger school nursing team is paramount. The post holder will need to have the ability to deal with a varied and challenging caseload aimed at improving outcomes and reducing inequalities. Experience of multi agency, multidisciplinary working across a range of settings is required as are excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A sound knowledge of safeguarding issues as well as an innovative approach to health promotion and health protection will be required.
