Duration: Permanent, Full Time/Term Time
Orchard Brae is a specialist provision designed specifically for children and young people with profound, multiple and complex needs. We are looking to recruit an individual who is committed to working as part of the senior leadership team to support and manage the nursing team and school specific training.

Job Purpose:
As a key member of the school team, provide a comprehensive nursing and first aid service, including training, advice and practical support, to enable all youngsters with complex health needs, inclusion in school and access to all areas of their personalised curriculum.
Requirements
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
- Registered first level nurse, part 8 or 15 of the register or equivalent.
- 3yrs experience of paediatric nursing in the community.
- 3yrs experience of delivering health related training.
- Drivers licence.
Responsibilities
The post holder is expected to demonstrate:
- Experience, knowledge and skills of working with children/young people with complex additional support needs, including complex and significant health requirements.
- An ability to lead, develop, co-ordinate, implement and review health care needs of children/young people including emergency first aid and care planning, across a school setting.
- Up to date skilled nursing care which will include a range of complex medical interventions including the daily management and administration of medication.
- Ability to assess, facilitate and promote early recognition of health, social and emotional problems, advising parents and sharing when appropriate with school staff and other agencies/specialists.
- Sufficient additional and relevant post registration experience, to be able to work autonomously in the education community as a Specialist Provision Nurse and Trainer.
- An ability to apply and maintain appropriate professional judgments and behaviours at all times, including whilst dealing with emergency medical situations.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively. This will include non verbal, verbal and written forms of communication.
- A proven ability to identify, oversee and provide a range of health care training to staff at all levels including the assessment of skills competency.
- A working knowledge and application of Child protection legislation and relevant guidance.
- Direction, co-ordination and supervision of the wider school team.
- IT skills.
- Attention to detail, rigorous record keeping and appropriate problem solving.
- On-going professional development.
