Location: South and Central London focus with requirement to travel pan London

Contract: Fixed Term until December 2022

Salary: £26,500 to £30,000

Hours: 37.5 per week

 

Groundwork are looking for an experienced Wellbeing Practitioner to join our social integration work, specifically supporting Afghan new arrivals.

Groundwork deliver a series of innovative integration projects focused on supporting migrants and refugees to integrate into life in the UK, through a programme of holistic activities focusing on mental wellbeing and cultural / community activities.

As a Wellbeing Facilitator, you will deliver trauma-informed wellbeing activities for Afghan Nationals, based in bridging hotels in London. The postholder will develop, coordinate and deliver a weekly schedule of group and one to one practical sessions, identified according to participant interest and need and informed by your own speciality. The aim of the sessions will be to improve mental and physical wellbeing, reduce social isolation and facilitate social connectivity.

The postholder will manage a caseload of participants, providing one to one wellbeing support, signposting and referrals to other specialist provisions. You will work within a larger team and be line managed by the Delivery Manager.

We welcome applications from diverse communities. Lived experience is particularly desirable for this role with languages such as Arabic, Pashto/Farsi/ Dari.

  • Strong understanding of the challenges newly arrived refugees face in London.
  • A qualification or relevant experience in wellbeing or counselling.
  • Experience in running a range of well-being activities in a variety of settings.
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team to achieve project outputs.
  • Lived experience and/or language abilities would be advantageous.
