Course outline

Neurodivergence is a term used to describe the different ways people think. It covers the differences in neurological function across the population. This course considers ways of supporting, and advocating for, those who think in different ways and how to reduce anxiety.

Training topics will include:

• Awareness of the most common forms of neurodivergence including ADHD, Tourette’s syndrome and autism
• The signs of common forms of neurodivergence
• The causes of anxiety linked to neurodivergence
• Support for young people in the educational setting

Learning outcomes:

• A working knowledge of some of the common forms of neurodivergence
• The ability to identify neurodivergent traits and the actions to take
• How to reduce the levels of anxiety surrounding neurodivergence
• The ability to develop strategies to enable neurodivergent people to fulfil their potential.
