Supporting epilepsy sufferers in your workplace: Part of the Hieda Box Set

Course outline

This training package comprises of 12 webinars on a variety of medical topics, the purpose of which is to provide updates on medical conditions and refresh skills. This box set is suitable for all organisations who wish to further their knowledge with a view to supporting their employees within the work environment. It is also aimed at supporting school nurses with their training and development needs; helping them to raise the standards of care provided in schools, this could count as CPD as part of their revalidation. Webinars will be recorded so if you cannot attend the day or have missed any of the box set, they can be available for you to view when convenient.

This training is available to purchase as a single webinar or part of the Hieda box set series.

This set will be £600 for a member series place.

The aim of this session is to discuss the anatomy and physiology of the condition and raise awareness of what it would be like to live with and manage it.

Training topics will include:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Tests and diagnosis
  • Updates on management approaches
  • Support strategies in the educational setting or workplace.

Learning outcomes:

  • To improve understanding of epilepsy
  • To look at the school and workplace to see what could be implemented to ensure the safe management of epilepsy
  • To encourage and support sufferers to be independent and manage their condition safely.

Emily Kane

Emily is the former Sister in Charge of the Health Centre at Taunton School, Somerset (left Dec ’23) where she had led the team for over 7 years. Previously she worked in a smaller prep school in Somerset.

Emily graduated from The Queen’s University of Belfast as a paediatric nurse and worked in many clinical settings before moving across to the Independent school nursing sector.

Emily is passionate about independent school nursing, encouraging and facilitating nurses to develop the best service that they can for the children and young people that they look after.
